In February 2021, SHIP was required to submit a self-evaluation for Key Question 5 Covid-response. We are have worked really hard with the children, families, staff, volunteers, and other agencies to offer the best possible experience in these challenging times. The Care Inspectorate has reviewed our submission and stated we put 'the children at the heart of the service.' We are delighted to still be supporting families at this very challenging time.

The clubs will look very different this year due to government guidelines around social distancing and starting up child care provisions. However we are delighted to be welcoming young people back into sessions, we have missed them. The holiday clubs will be held at Fairview and Glenearn Community campus, morning and afternoon sessions.

23rd March 2020
Over the last few days guidance from the government seems to be changing on a regular basis. We, as a management team and committee, have deliberated back and forth but have decided that unfortunately we are going to cancel holiday club. This decision has not been easy but we need to think about the safety of the young people, families, volunteers and staff. If you have already paid for sessions these will be refunded over the next few days.
We will be starting to send out daily activities through Seesaw to all registered families, if you don’t have an account let us know we can set one up for you or email the activities to you.
We will be phoning families each week for a chat and see if there is anything we can do to help. Our staff and volunteers are making videos to send out with messages and activities.
Please stay safe and speak soon.

It is with great disappointment that I must advise you that SHIP has suspended all services with immediate effect and until further notice. This difficult decision has been made following updated advice from the UK Government. We have very velunerable young people attending the service and felt the risk was too high. We fully understand this will cause some distress to your young people and yourselves. We are looking at other ways we can support you and will send out emails and messages on Seesaw over the next couple of days. We are hoping this will be a short term issue and we will come up with a solution asap. Please get in touch if you have any queries in the mean time. Stay safe and healthy folks.
12th March 2020
Update - We have sent out emails and a notification on Seesaw to all registered families, with regard SHIP Policy regarding Coronavirus (Covid 19). As stated please follow NHS guide lines (link below). We are requesting that if any service user, family, volunteer or staff member is traveling aboard please let us know. To ensure that we are keeping some of our most vulnerable young people safe, please DO NOT use any of the services for 21 days after your return (this relates to volunteers and staff as well).
We have a very limited supply of hand gel, more is on order, so if your young person could come to groups with their own that would help the clubs. Washing hands for 20 seconds with soap and water is still the advise from the NHS, we will be encouraging all young people to do this throughout sessions.
Any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact one of the management team.
Further to the recent Coronavirus outbreaks throughout the UK and more recently Scotland, we have attached the NHS current guidelines. If you are worried at all please contact NHS 24. If anyone using the service are asked to self-isolate or if the NHS confirms you have Coronavirus please let us know so we can keep our vulnerable young people safe and healthy.
